Meta Ad Creative That Books Home Service Jobs

What kind of creative performs best for home services?

Visual proof of a transformation. Home service work has an enormous advantage over most industries: the result is photographable. A cracked driveway beside the same driveway resurfaced communicates the entire value proposition in one image, with no copy required and no claim the viewer has to take on trust.

Formats worth having in rotation

  1. 1

    Before and after

Side by side or a swipe. The strongest single format in this industry. Works for roofing, driveways, landscaping, exterior cleaning, kitchens, and bathrooms.

  2. 2

Job-site video shot on a phone

Thirty to sixty seconds of the crew working, ideally with the owner or a technician talking to camera. Reads as real, which polished production often does not.

  3. 3

    The problem close-up

A photograph of the exact issue a homeowner would recognise on their own property — a lifted shingle, a sagging gutter, a cracked seal. Recognition is what stops the scroll.

  4. 4

    Customer on camera

Twenty seconds of a real customer saying what they were worried about and what happened. More persuasive than any claim you make about yourself.

Use your own photos

Stock imagery of a smiling family in a generic kitchen is invisible — people have learned to filter it. A slightly imperfect photo of a real roof you actually worked on in a town people recognise will outperform it consistently.

How do you stop the scroll in the first three seconds?

Lead with the homeowner's problem, not your company. Nobody scrolling Instagram is looking for a roofer, so an ad that opens with your logo and years in business gets skipped. An ad that opens with a close-up of a problem they recognise on their own house earns the next two seconds, which is all you need.

  • Open on the problem or the result, never on your branding.
  • Assume the sound is off. Anything essential has to be visible.
  • Put the location in early — people pay attention when they recognise the street.
  • One idea per ad. Ads that try to cover every service communicate none of them.

What should the ad copy actually say?

Short, plain, and specific. Most people read the first line and the call to action, so put the offer in the first line and make the next step unambiguous. Long paragraphs of company history get collapsed behind a "see more" link that almost nobody taps.

  1. 1First line: the offer or the problem, in plain language.
  2. 2Second line: what the homeowner gets and how long it takes.
  3. 3Third line: one credibility detail — years, licence, a number of jobs completed locally.
  4. 4Last line: exactly what to do next, phrased as one action.
Avoid claims you cannot back

"Best in town" and "unbeatable prices" are invisible because every competitor says them. They also invite scrutiny you do not need. Specific, checkable statements do more work: a real number, a real timeframe, a real guarantee.

How often should you refresh creative?

More often than you would in a national campaign, because your audience is finite. A service area of a few hundred thousand people gets shown the same ad repeatedly, and performance decays as people stop noticing it. Plan new creative on a schedule rather than waiting for costs to climb and then reacting.

The practical approach is to keep a shooting habit rather than a shooting project. If every crew takes a before photo and an after photo on every job, you accumulate a creative library without ever scheduling a production day. That habit is worth more than one expensive video shoot.

  • Set a standing rule: photos before starting, photos on completion, on every job.
  • Capture thirty seconds of video on any job that looks visually dramatic.
  • Ask happy customers for a short clip at the moment they are most pleased — at handover, not weeks later.
  • Keep several ads live so you can rotate without a gap when one tires.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need professional video production for Facebook ads?

No, and it often works against you. Footage shot on a phone at a real job site reads as authentic, which is exactly what a homeowner deciding whether to trust you is looking for. Highly polished production can look like an advert, and people are practised at ignoring adverts.

How many ad creatives do I need to start?

Enough to find out what resonates, which usually means several distinct angles rather than several versions of the same idea. Vary the message — problem-led, result-led, offer-led, testimonial-led — rather than only changing colours or headlines, because you learn more from testing different ideas.

Can I use photos of jobs I did years ago?

Yes, provided the work still represents your current standard and you have permission to show the property. Older work is fine; misleading work is not. If the photo shows a service you no longer offer or a quality level you have moved past, it will generate the wrong enquiries.

Should I put prices in my ads?

It depends on whether price is a competitive advantage or a filter you want. Showing a starting price reduces enquiries but improves their quality, which helps if your team is stretched. Leaving it out increases volume and shifts the price conversation to the call.

About 9xBooked

9xBooked is a Meta ads agency for US home service businesses. We build and run Facebook and Instagram ad campaigns for roofing, HVAC, plumbing, landscaping, cleaning, and remodeling companies, delivering exclusive leads that are never resold or shared with competitors. Every engagement carries a written revenue guarantee, sized to your business on a free audit call before you commit to anything.

We publish these guides because most marketing advice aimed at contractors is written to sell rather than to inform. Every statistic here links back to where it was published, and we say so plainly when the data does not exist.
